Exploring Sustainable Engineering at FEUP’24

1. About FEUP

2. About EDS@FEUP Project
The EDS@FEUP project aims to foster sustainability skills across the various study cycles within the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), thereby promoting a sustainable culture within the institution. Through the engagement of FEUP’s faculty, the development of targeted content and resources dedicated to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), and collaborative efforts with FEUP student groups, the project has expanded its activities. These actions are geared towards promoting innovation for sustainability within the institution.

3. World Engineering Day – Celebrations at FEUP’24
To mark World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development, the FEUP’s Sustainability Committee organized a set of free entry activities that will take place on:

March 4th:
• Poster exhibition showing the sustainable practices implemented by FEUP student groups/associations.
This activity will be carried out In collaboration with the FEUP Students Association and Groups.

March 11th: In the scope of the EDS@FEUP Project, the following activities will be promoted:
• 17:00h – Why sustainability competences matter – Introducing the GreenComp framework– Ulrike Pisiotis – Ulrike is a policy officer at the European Commission. She works in Directorate General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture on policy development to make sustainability a core priority in education systems across Europe. She is also one of the co-authors of GreenComp, the EU sustainability competence framework. Having joined the Commission in 2009, she has held various positions and gained extensive experience in education and research policies and systems within the EU and beyond. Ulrike has a PhD in German literature and has previously worked in research, publishing and teaching
• 17:45h – Presentation of the EDS@FEUP project progress report
• 18:00h – Motivational workshop on the integration of sustainable development into the curricula of FEUP study cycles
